REOPENING OF THE 4RST GREENLAND HALIBUT COMPETITIVE FISHERYGASPE FIXED GEAR FLEET OF LESS THAN 13.71 METRES
Gaspe – April 27, 2018
Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Québec Region announces the reopening of the 4RST Greenland halibut fishery for the Gaspé Peninsula fixed gear fleet of less than 13.71 m under a competitive regime.
The residual quota allocated to this third opening period of the competitive fishery is 24.7 t. Given the number of fishers who have indicated their interest in participating in this fishery, an initial individual maximum catch limit (IMCL) of 12 350 kg was established. The licence holders who exceed this IMCL will have their IMCL reduced by the equivalent of their excesses for the 2018-2019 season.
Pursuant to the recommendations of the two organizations representing fishers of this group, the fishery will be open from April 30, 4:30 AM to May 14, 6:00 PM (EDT).
Other management measures are specified in the Notice to fish harvesters issued on April 23, 2018 and in the Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) 2017-2019 approved on May 12, 2017.
