Snow Crab - 12F

Announcement of the management measure of the Area 12F snow crab allocation for the Magdalen Islands lobster fleet

DFO is putting in place a temporary management regime that address the Area 12F snow crab allocation management for the Magdalen Islands lobster fleet for the 2018 fishing season.

DFO will divide the Area 12F snow crab allocation for the Magdalen Islands lobster fleet of 25,753 t in 2 temporary allocation of 12,876 t with the authorization to use a maximum of 32 traps per allocation.

The Area 22 lobster licence holders, which are interested in fishing one of these 2 temporary allocations, are invited to signal their interest by contacting Élodie Cummings-Aucoin by phone at 418-986-2095 in order to indicate their name and lobster fishing licence number, before May 3rd 2018 at 16h. In order to determine the 2 participants, DFO will proceed with a draw on May 7 2018 among the Area 22 lobster licence holders registered.

The participants will have to respect the management measures already announced in the Conservation Harvesting Plan for the Area 12F snow crab from April 5th 2018.

Transfers between the 2 participants, in whole or in part, will be authorized.
