Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the 4RST Atlantic Halibut fishery for the licence holders of the Gaspé fixed gear fleet of less than 13.71 m from the Others fishers group.

The fishery of an allocation of 19 t, under a competitive regime with individual maximum catch limit (IMCL), will be authorized from June 28, 4:30 AM to July 5, 18:30 PM (EDT).

Given the number of fishermen who notified their interest in participating in this fishery, an Individual maximum catch limit catch limit (IMCL) of 1125 kg was established.

Only longline is authorized, with a maximum of 1500 hooks.

Also, with reference to the Notice to fish harvesters issued on March 15, 2018, additional management measures to reduce interactions with the North Atlantic Right Whale and to report any interactions with marine mammals are now effective in all Quebec fisheries.
