ADMINISTRATIVE GUIDELINES - INDIVIDUAL TRANSFERABLE QUOTA (ITQ) PROGRAM - AREA12 TRADITIONAL“MID SHORE” SNOW CRAB FLEET - GROUP B GULF SHRIMP FLEET - Gulf of St. Lawrence Shrimp (Areas 8, 9, 10 and 12)

 

OBJECT: ITQ permanent transfer from inshore harvesters (vessel of less than 19,81m) to mid-shore harvesters (vessel of 19,81m to 30,48m)

Quebec – August 6, 2018 

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region hereby suspends requests for permanent transfers of ITQ as described herein for the 2018 fishing season for Quebec license holders for the Area 12 Traditional “mid shore” snow crab fleet and Group B Gulf Shrimp fleet – areas 8, 9, 10 and 12. Any request for the permanent transfer of ITQ from an inshore harvester to a mid-shore harvester received after 1 January 2018 for the mentioned fleets will automatically be refused.  

Fisheries and Oceans Canada wishes to validate the medium- and long-term impact of this type of transaction on the erosion of the shares allocated to inshore harvesters. DFO will, in cooperation with the Gulf Region and the concerned fleets, conduct an impact analysis of this type of transactions for a decision for the 2019 fishing season.
