FISHERIES MANAGEMENT ORDER REGARDING AT-SEA OBSERVERS ON BOARD FISHING VESSELS

RENEWAL OF FMO # 2020-03  

Quebec – July 3, 2020

 

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec region informs the fishing industry that pursuant to Subsection 9.5 of the Fisheries Act, the Minister of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans gives notice that the May 15, 2020 Fisheries Management Order (FMO) imposing the following requirements has been renewed pursuant to subsection 9.3(2) of the Fisheries Act

 

1. All fishing activities authorized under the Fisheries Act must be carried out without any at-sea observer being onboard fishing vessels, except:

 

2. Any person authorized to carry out fishing activities under the Fisheries Act is required to not authorize any at-sea observer to come on board any fishing vessel, unless the requirements in item 1 are met.

 

This renewed order comes into effect on June 28, 2020 and shall remain in effect for 45 days unless otherwise revoked or amended.
